You might be surprised to learn that there alternatives to Microsoft
products and Windows. My books and this site were produced using Linux software. Linux provides a number of Operating Systems. Some are built to local needs while other countries produce their own operating systems. Some are highly specialised, some rescue an old machine to bring it up to date while others are just easy to use.
